“A regular skin checkup can literally save your life.” Jennifer Krasnoff, MD

After laser therapy the treated area is sensitive and needs to be protected.

Immediately after the treatment you will experience initial redness and mild crusting lasting 1 – 5 days.

Polysporin or Vaseline should be applied for the first 3 – 5 days as frequently as possible or until crusting is no longer evident.  To prevent scarring do not rub, scratch, or pull off scabs.

Swelling may occur and can be decreased by applying a cold pack to the area.  Swelling may last 2 – 3 days but may last longer in extensively treated areas.

Initially makeup, moisturizers, and sunscreens should be avoided for day 1 on treated areas to prevent irritation,  Showering is permitted.

The laser treatment may remove pigment and increase sun sensitivity.  Wear protective clothing or hat and use sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher.  Sun exposure results in increased skin pigment and reduces the effectiveness of further laser treatment.

For discomfort take acetaminophen.
